The specific objectives of the study are to conduct a feasibility study of a new bridge across River Nile at Jinja, Republic of Uganda including approach roads and to transfer relavant skills and technologies to personnel concerned with the study. The main aim of the bridge is to realize smooth traffic flow on the Northern Corridor of Uganda which is a strategic link of Uganda with other inland neighboring countries (Rwanda, Burundi, and Congo) to the Port of Mombasa in Kenya.

SRDP provided the following services for this study:

• Transfer of technical skills in GIS and CADD to counterpart personnel
• Development of a comprehensive database covering Jinja Municipality and Njeru Town to support various analysis works for the study
• GIS and mapping support to the multidisciplinary team
