The overall goal of the study is to enhance the natural disaster management capacities in Indonesia and to facilitate the creation of necessary institutional mechanisms to achieve it through the formulation of disaster management plan at all levels. The study formulates comprehensive disaster management plans in national and regional levels of Indonesia and develop capacity of national and regional organizations concerned and communities.

SRDP provided the following GIS services:

• Development of a disaster management geographical database covering national and selected kabupaten in East Java and West Sumatra to support various analysis works for the study
• GIS and mapping support to the multidisciplinary team
• Technical transfer to Indonesian counterparts
• Production of thematic maps including hazard and risk maps for flood, tsunami and earthquake and landslide.
